What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
The legal team has played a key advisory role in the following: the bank’s first financing deal in the globe was funded by Standard Chartered Group’s USD 1billion financing program to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. The financing was unprecedented, requiring bespoke drafting and agile collaboration with our regional legal and business teams to meet the expedited timelines driven by the evolving pandemic situation at the time. I received a regional award from the Group as one of the 100 Covid Warriors in Africa and Middle East in recognition of the role I played in the successful financing.
Are there any causes, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am deeply passionate about advancing gender diversity and inclusion in corporate leadership. This is a cause I have supported through co-sponsorship of our bank’s gender diversity and inclusion initiatives. While I am honored to have received the recognition of being named one of the top 25 Women in Management Africa 2024 and one of the 9to5 Chick Top 100 Career Women in Africa 2024, my true passion lies in using my platform to influence and create more opportunities for women to ascend to positions of power and make their voices heard in the board room and C-suite. This is an issue that is incredibly important to me, both professionally and personally.
