How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
Given that the development of use of technological tools are essential for our business here in Location World. The pandemic did not change much part of our business or legal function in the company.
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We launched new operation in Chile. By doing so, we were involved in the negotiations of different agreements with our business partners in Chile.
In what ways do you see the in-house legal role evolving in your region over the next few years?
In-house legal role is evolving in Ecuador and legal project management skills are emphasised more than ever. Agile attitude is expected to in-house lawyers for the development of legal operations.
Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives?
Our team is currently working on the anti-corruption policy frameworks and the data protection compliance program. It will not only impact the company’s business in Ecuador but also our business in other countries. As a part of the information security group, our team undertakes drafting, reviewing, and analysing different security policies for the company.
