What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Over the past year, our team has been in charge of a diverse array of complex deals. We have been involved in international financial transactions in which we negotiated and executed cross-border lending contracts with major financial institutions. Our experience and expertise on domestic and international financial regulations have been key for achieving success in these transactions. Also, our legal team provided legal advice on the issuance of a green bond, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to sustainable finance.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most? Which have you found most useful in your legal team?
I think AI will change the legal industry. While it will not entirely replace the attorney’s role, it will definitely increase productivity. For example, legal research, document review and contract analysis will be carried out semi-automatically. Consequently, the real value of a legal advisor will be in more complex tasks, specifically, in my view, in strategic and critical analysis. In general terms, I believe AI will become indispensable to remain competitive for law practice in the near future.
As we live in a fast-paced world today, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?
I think lawyers should be aligned with their client’s commercial aspirations so they can offer strategic solutions that provide different options to accomplish business objectives while observing applicable regulations. It is key that commercial lawyers understand main industry-specific issues to provide better and more business oriented legal advice.
