What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We have recently been involved in: Litigations in criminal, civil and mercantile actions; the implementation of hard policies regarding compliance methods; renewal of the inner policies in credit, accounts and others; strengthening of money laundry and other related practices prevention; implementation of mobile and web banking; assessment with control entities and; improvement of corporate governance.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

The policy of our enterprise is to keep special systems to avoid corruption within the law practice, which includes working with serious law firms that will keep applying these policies. Our ethical values define us and the adequate appliance of the law.

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?

It is very important to build strong relationships with business partners, considering that a legal team will always be involved in a contractual process. In order to do so, it is important for the legal manager to be present in all meetings of negotiation, and to be in touch with the executives of the business partners. Also, maintain conversations with other legal managers to reinforce relations.
