Career Biography
Andrés Hidalgo-Abarca is an Ecuadorian lawyer with 20 years of experience in the fields of Financial, Securities, and Corporate Law. He holds a PhD in Jurisprudence from Universidad Central del Ecuador. He has an outstanding academic background, including a specialisation and master’s degree in Financial, Securities, and Insurance Law from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, as well as a master’s degree in Procedural Law from the Universidad Iberoamericana del Ecuador. He also holds a diploma in Compliance, Corporate Governance, and Ethics from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and a specific program in Fintech from INCAE Business School, consolidating his profile as an expert in corporate and financial law.
Throughout his career, Andrés has served as legal leader in renowned financial institutions such as Banco Pichincha, Banco del Estado, CONAFIPS, and Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito 29 de Octubre Ltda. He has also held key legal advisory roles in multinationals such as Tata Consultancy Services – TCS Ecuador, where he led complex legal projects and served as a leading advisor to clients in the commercial and financial sectors.
His experience lies in the structuring of commercial and financial transactions, analysis and management of legal risks, implementation of internal policies, advising corporate governance bodies, and coordinating legal audits. He has been recognised for his ability to integrate a legal approach with business strategy, becoming a key ally for the organisations he advises. He has also contributed to the legal training of in-house teams and has been a guest lecturer on digital platforms specialising in corporate law.
