Eva Olano Kälin
Head of legal, new markets | Cintra
Team size: Four
LATAM countries your role covers: All of Latin America
What are the most significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region that you or your legal team have recently been involved in?
My team and I have been involved in advising Cintra on the bidding of major infrastructure projects in several Latin American countries, especially in Chile, Colombia, and Peru.
In addition to regular bidding processes, I have also provided advice in relation to M&A transactions and all the legal issues arising in relation to projects which are already adjudicated and currently being operated.
What are your organization’s plans in the LATAM region over the next 12 months and how will your legal expertise help to achieve these plans?
We aim to continue being strong business partners within our organisation, and our work will continue to be involved in all legal affairs in Latin America.
How do you adapt your legal counselling to align with the diverse business practices and customs of various LATAM countries?
Although we always engage local counsel, we are used to working in different and very diverse jurisdictions. It is important to be very open-minded and open to learning. Our role is to take all the advice we receive from external counsel, making sure that from a legal perspective, all our operations align not only with local laws but also with the acceptable risk profile and internal policies of the company.
