LATAM countries your role covers: Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Peru
What are the most significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region that you or your legal team have recently been involved in?
Over the past year, my team has been involved in a number of significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region. These include leading corporate structuring with a construction company in Mexico, representing our group in arbitrations in Chile, Mexico, and Peru, including handling the enforcement of some arbitration awards. We have also been involved in the representation of SPV’s in several energy and renewable energy projects in Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile, and Peru, as well involved in structuring a joint venture between a Spanish industrial company and a state-owned company. Furthermore, my team has involved in negotiating complex project finance agreements in Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica, and the negotiation of agreements in Colombia.
What are your organisations plans in the LATAM region over the next 12 months and how will your legal expertise help to achieve these plans?
Our company has ambitious plans for growth in the LATAM region for the next 12 months. With some strategic structuring in Mexico, we plan to expand our operations into new markets. Our legal team will play a key role in supporting these growth plans by advising on regulatory compliance, contract drafting, and dispute resolution.
How do you adapt your legal counselling to align with the diverse business practices and customs of various LATAM countries?
The legal landscape in Latin America is very diverse, and each country has its own set of laws and regulations. We need to understand and adapt to these differences in order to provide effective legal counsel. To do this, we build relationships with local law firms and hire lawyers with regional expertise. We also keep abreast of the latest legal developments in Latin America by attending conferences and workshops.
