What are the most significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region that you or your legal team have recently been involved in?

Over the past years, our legal team has been actively engaged in several significant cases and transactions in Chile, reflecting our dedication to navigating complex cross-border matters and regulatory challenges effectively. Notable transactions include the acquisition of 42.5% Stake in Chile’s Electrogas; one of our first major international investments in Latin America, this transaction involved the acquisition of a 42.5% stake in Chile’s Electrogas for $180m. This marked a pivotal move in expanding our presence in the Latin American energy sector.

Another notable transaction we engaged in was the successful acquisition of Transemel, which operates 14 lines spanning 92 kilometres and manages five substations with a capacity of 985 MVAs. This strategic acquisition, located in the northern region of Chile, has strengthened our position in the Chilean power market and allowed us to tap into new opportunities.

In both cases, our legal team played a pivotal role in coordinating legal support across various aspects of these businesses, ensuring compliance with local regulations, mitigating risks, and facilitating seamless integration into our portfolio.
