What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?

Following the public takeover of Caverion Corporation in 2023, Caverion and the Swedish company Assemblin merged to form Assemblin Caverion Group AB on 1st April 2024. This merger created a leading northern European technical service and installation company with over 21,000 employees. Throughout 2024, significant integration actions were undertaken. In my area of responsibility, this included the complete integration and reorganisation of the legal and compliance function lead processes. We focused on the governance model and meeting practices for governing bodies, policy and process integration (such as the Code of Conduct, Supplier Code of Conduct, Authorities Policy and Approval Matrix), tendering for a new group-wide insurance program and broker, and the implementation of a new whistleblowing channel, to mention few. This has been a monumental task for our small team, and I am incredibly proud of how we have planned and executed so much while still maintaining a high level of service in our daily tasks.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

This question has been particularly important for us in 2024 as we navigated the merger. I believe that lawyers play a crucial role in bringing structure and building trust within the organisation, which becomes even more vital during challenging times. Firstly, clear and effective communication fosters transparency, which in turn helps to build trust. Secondly, it is essential to focus on assessing and addressing the most significant risks and developing strategies to manage them efficiently. Thirdly, our legal and compliance frameworks and processes must be robust and adaptable to handle crises effectively. Lastly, the importance of collaboration and teamwork cannot be overstated. Working closely with management and other functions ensures that issues are addressed more effectively and that all aspects of the organisation are considered. Never miss a crisis as an opportunity to learn, focus, and improve.

Who is someone that has had a great impact on your career success?

Jutta Karlsson, currently the Group General Counsel for Amer Corporation, was my boss at Pöyry PLC from 2016 to 2019. Her trust and belief in me allowed me to shine and gave me the confidence to trust myself. I learned a great deal from her professionally, but even more importantly, I discovered that authenticity and joy in work and life in general are the key ingredients to reaching the next level when in the right environment to thrive. This principle guides me today in how I conduct myself and how I treat others.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

Two experiences have been the most defining in my career, both professionally and personally. During my time at Pöyry Plc, I was part of a team where we truly experienced how trust and psychological safety enable people to reach their full potential, leading to both significant financial improvement and possibility to carry out a rapid transformation for the company. Now, at Assemblin Caverion Group, I have gone through the extensive public tender offer process and the subsequent merger. These significant changes have not only brought people closer together but have also provided an exceptionally interesting and rewarding learning experiences.
