What are the projects that you are most proud of working on over the past 12 months?

Implementing a wave of new EU regulations across all group companies in different jurisdictions. This includes allocating time to study and understand new laws and guidance and translating legal requirements into practicable and understandable items. It also means multidisciplinary work with various departments, proactive communication and decision-making (sometimes with limited information).

At the same time, I have secured that operational day-to-day legal support for all functions has not been compromised and everybody has been supported. All this work has been achieved almost exclusively with in-house resources to secure that the knowledge is and stays in-house and to keep the budget.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

I maintain the big picture, foresight and look beyond own organisation. I proactively share information to colleagues and make sure that information is understandable and actionable. I keep close to business to keep myself informed and to understand what is going on and what is needed. I make decisions when needed.

I don’t think lawyer’s work is very different during a period of instability or crisis or during other times. IAt all times, a corporate lawyer should be a reliable advisor, focused on their work and pragmatic.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Dependability, analytical mind and decision-making skills. Good time management skills and a cool head certainly help.
