Deputy general counsel for M&A | Eurazeo
Investment general counsel | Eurazeo
A leading global investment company with a diversified portfolio of approximately €15bn in assets under management, Eurazeo stepped up its investment momentum in 2017 by acquiring interests in a number of companies. In charge of the legal aspects of investment transactions for five divisions and overseeing investments, deputy general counsel – M&A Cécile Gilliet has been prolific in helping the company achieve this since taking her current position at the company in May 2016. Diligently assisting on a number of transactions, she played a key role on the landmark strategic acquisition by Eurazeo of 70% of Idinvest Partners for €230m in February 2018. Other important large deals she has worked on over the last two years at Eurazeo include the acquisitions of Worldstrides, Iberchem, Trader Interactive, Carambar & Cot, Novacap, Somme Education and Fintrax. In addition to these transactions, Gilliet has facilitated the development of internal tools for developing investment standards and an investment “safe harbour” within the company, enabling a post-transaction follow-up and improving internal legal and tax risk management processes. Keen to develop cross-department communication, Gilliet is also credited for facilitating the integration of the corporate teams in the investment process and ensuring the constraints of each corporate team is accounted for. Prior to Eurazeo, Gilliet was the executive vice president – general counsel of gold mining group La Mancha Group from 2012 until 2015. Before that she spent 15 years practicing law and specialising in M&A with the law firms Bredin Prat, Latham & Watkins and Vatier & Associates.
