Can you tell us a little about your significant accomplishments over the last few years, as a team or by yourself?
Over the last few years, we could summarise three major accomplishments (a) a complete reorganisation of the legal teams after a reduction and centralisation of legal functions within the group including a digital transformation (ii) the management of three of the main products liability large serial cases in France with more than 90% of success and winning the first large class action in healthcare (iii) the management of strong defence of patents in a difficult environment. These accomplishments need much more personal engagement in the complex sanitary period.
In addition to my Bayer functions, I am a fully entitled judge in one of the main commercial courts in France (Nanterre) acting in a dispute chamber. I also participated to the creation of the international dispute resolution chamber in the Nanterre court.
What do you predict will be the biggest change to the legal market in France, in the next few years?
Major changes in the legal market in France will concern (i) the product liability scandals and associated cases for new skills will be necessary for in-house lawyers (ii) the compliance behaviours and the management of compliance issues and (iii) the real standpoint and value added of legal tech.
What will the main focus of your company be over the next few months and how do you intend to assist with this?
The main focus will concern (i) the defence of patents of blockbuster products and associated legal and organisational aspects (ii) the development of product liability large serial cases and (iii) the entrance of new complex products (therapy genic) in the market for the benefit of patients. The development of new managerial style and behaviours will also be a real challenge.
