Can you tell us a little about your significant accomplishments over the last few years, as a team or by yourself?

I have built up from scratch a team of lawyers with diverse skills that have grown in expertise while being able to offer together a 360-degree and transversal approach to the issues. The team is now able to provide a high-quality in-house service recognised by all of our internal clients. The team is based in Italy and Switzerland, with an upcoming development in the Middle East.

Personally, I had the chance to develop my knowledge and practices of the luxury industry within the Kering Group and to take over a more operational legal function after having held the position of group corporate legal director and secretary of the board of directors.

What do you predict will be the biggest change to the legal market in France, in the next few years?

Artificial intelligence and the new functions of legal operations will undoubtedly be the great upheavals of our profession, with a redistribution of tasks towards even more specialised expert lawyers able to deliver high added value advice. The value of the in-house lawyers will finally be properly recognised as it is the case in the Anglo-Saxon countries. The growing weight of the national and international regulatory environment, particularly in terms of ESG aspects, will be a determining factor in the role of the general counsel in the implementation of his company’s strategy.

Have any recent political, economic or regulatory changes impacted your work? How are you dealing with this?

The recurrent political and economic issues in China due to its Covid zero risk policy are pushing Kering’s Brands to be more interested in markets closer to Europe and just as promising in terms of developing the luxury market, hence the need to create a team of lawyers in Dubai.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

Sustainable fashion and luxury because our luxury industry must undeniably change its business model. The life cycle of products must be extended to ensure their longer use and recycling and all the raw materials must be properly sourced to reduce our carbon footprint. These are no longer casual topics for me.
