What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We have actively worked on the digital transformation of the company and data democratisation project – setting up of “plai”, an app developed with an AI platform company which delivers real-time, reactive data interactions and gives an unprecedented 360° view across all Sanofi activities. The app aggregates available company internal data across functions and harnesses the power of AI to provide timely insights and personalised “what if” scenarios to support thousands of Sanofi teams’ decisionmakers to take informed decisions in a simple and modern digital user experience.
Additionally, we have been working on the delivery of the CSR strategy roadmap (photovoltaic panels on site, global health unit’s not-for-profit Impact brand portfolio, support to Foundation S – the Sanofi Collective) and sharing with investors during periodic governance roadshows. Lastly, we are working on our sponsorship of Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics games.
What are some of your main tips for dealing with a crisis?
Keep calm and simple, maintain a positive mindset/can do attitude, leverage the expertise and collective intelligence of a structured swat team with clear roles and responsibilities.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
By adopting the right mindset (in addition to legal expertise/hard skills), i.e., be a strategic business owner rather than a gatekeeper and being obsessed with impact (both short and longer term) and focus on value creation for the business, be open to take thoughtful risk.
