What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

I would like to give an insight into the company we setup last year, DHP SAS.

DHP is the innovative entity of AXA Group, resulting from a strategic partnership with Microsoft to build a digital healthcare platform (DHP – Healthanea). This platform aims at interconnecting healthcare services to enable hassle-free and personalised patient journeys, leveraging AI and new standards on health data interoperability. Healthanea is an open platform meant to revolutionise the way people are accessing health services. It will support a healthcare ecosystem at a European level in a first step, beyond AXA entities, and even more globally in the future. This is a strategic initiative is supported at the highest level of AXA and Microsoft Groups.

It is sometimes believed that setting up a start-up under the guidance and support of an international company like AXA Group would be an easy task; however, it has been a great challenge full of tremendous learning and resilience to take Healthanea to the next level in the European market.

One of our major challenges was the creation of templates, as Healthanea operates as a service provider, which is a unique offering within AXA. By deciding to create a company with the purpose of bringing more value to future customers or prospects, we approached the pharmaceutical industry to offer our services through the Healthanea Platform and start building the open ecosystem.

This is how we initiated the first negotiation with a large pharmaceutical company with an international presence, driven by our belief in the power of digital technology to support patients by facilitating early detection of medical conditions. We reduce time to diagnosis by orchestrating the health journey from risk assessment through to diagnosis. Our technology delivers a thorough set of data insights, which we leverage to continually improve the effectiveness of the early detection solution.

As an in-house lawyer, I consider one of the most significant to be simplifying complex issues for businesses, finding solutions even when the road looks grey, and making regulatory concerns, such as personal data processing and healthcare regulation, more understandable and practical. We also navigate the complexities of operating across various jurisdictions.

I believe that lawyers should naturally evolve to better understand the business’s needs, listen to their concerns, manage expectations, thus provide effective solutions that lead to business growth. Our role goes beyond protecting the company, but it involved making the business more appealing and profitable in the market, thus attracting more customers and scaling in not only the European market, but also in Asia and America.

We cannot forget that we must love what we do and believe in the mission and vision of the company we work for.
