How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
During such periods, the agility and responsiveness of the legal team are crucial in mitigating risks. The first step is to establish or join a crisis task force with key stakeholders from the outset, allowing us to gain an overview of the issues, prioritise actions, and make recommendations, all while ensuring the confidentiality of shared information. The second step involves deploying the appropriate resources, both internally and externally, with a clear distribution of tasks to support business teams effectively. This should be done in alignment with the business strategy, with clear steering and timelines. Finally, it is essential to enhance internal communication regarding progress and problem-solving, while closely monitoring external communications to mitigate any potential reputational risks.
What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?
Having worked for two years at an international mid-sized company with high growth and development ambitions in a constrained environment, including limited resources and specific exit timing, the legal roadmap has been fully oriented towards three key objectives. Firstly, it focuses on upgrading and streamlining the existing legal framework. Secondly, it involves setting up efficient processes and ways of working, modelled on larger international groups, to ensure greater operational effectiveness. Finally, the roadmap anticipates future needs and challenges, positioning the legal function for long-term success.
Our key priorities include improving contractualisation to mitigate risks through the implementation of clear rules and standards. We are also focused on positioning the group as a “best in class” leader in Ethics & Compliance, viewed through the lens of value creation. Additionally, we are preparing for new global regulations, such as the CSRD and CS3D, ensuring that the company remains compliant and ready for future regulatory developments.
Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am passionate about dance and the arts in general, believing that art is an excellent medium for communicating with and engaging employees on corporate social responsibility and societal issues that our companies must be mobilised around, such as the environment, diversity and inclusion, and other key causes.
