Mirroring the diverse and large scale business operations of Carrefour, the legal department at one of France’s best known retail brands provides wide-ranging and comprehensive support, being expected to move in line with the company’s business plans domestically and internationally to the fullest extent. Franck Tassan, the group general counsel, has been at the company since 1996, and also takes a place on the executive committee and acts as the CEO of Carrefour Property Development, evincing the high esteem that he is held in within the group. In addition to the pressures that come with operating large numbers of stores and distribution facilities across France, a legal perspective is required to handle the rollout of new services throughout the vast sphere of operations. These include, but are not limited to – new online and digital solutions, delivery services and expansion into new markets – requiring a close partnership with business colleagues to ensure smooth implementation of the new projects.
