About

A subsidiary of EDF and formerly known as ERDF, Enedis operates 95% of France’s public electricity grid with almost 40,000 employees and nearly 1.3 million kilometres of network. One of the main activities that has occupied Jean-Francois Vaquieri, the director of regulation and legal affairs, and his legal team has been related to the energy transition law of 2015 – which allowed self-consumption by family dwellings in 2015 and later extended to commercial and collective dwellings in 2016. The new law requires Enedis to meet the wishes of private consumers and professionals by developing and deploying a specific tariff to pay for the use of the network. The legal team is set up to assist the company on its huge operations by being spread across the country, with notable figures such as Cedric Deroche and Isabelle Aubinais serving as regional heads of departments in the Nantes and Lyon regions respectively. Vaquieri has a depth of talent to draw on in the team, something which has been essential during the continued changes in the energy market. In particular Maxime Gedilaghine, who heads up the department of governance, corporate law and competition, has assisted during Enedis’ appeal against the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (CRE) decision to introduce a new set tariff, which it feels hampers consumers in the long term. Away from this, the team recently accommodated the company’s publishing of new data to accompany energy transition actors, in particular local authorities, to assess more precisely the electricity consumption in their territories. The team was lauded for effortlessly handling all data protection issues related to the development.
