As Europe’s second-biggest publicly traded mall operator and a member of the CAC Next 20 index, French real estate investment trust Klépierre is a major player in continental Europe’s retail property market. Its in-house legal team is spearheaded by chief legal and human resources officer, Marie-Thérèse Dimasi, who oversees the multifaceted acquisition operations for the group in France and internationally. She is supported by a team of trusted and experienced in-house lawyers such as international legal officer, Florence Baudouin Perrin and head of legal development, Christophe Sapin both of who joined the same year as Dimasi in 2001. A notable recent addition to the team is Camille Loszycer, group head of corporate legal who joined in 2016. Due to the nature of the company organisation, the team is highly active in Klépierre’s operations. In 2015 it assisted on the purchase of Dutch competitor Corio which saw Klépierre acquire a €7bn shopping centre portfolio and secure strategic positions in some of the most important European national markets. The following year it completed the acquisition of Oslo City, downtown Oslo’s leading shopping centre, through Steen & Strøm, its majority controlled subsidiary in a deal which saw the parent company add to its €3.5bn shopping centre portfolio in Scandinavia. 2016 saw the legal team supplement the group’s financing strategy by successfully issuing large bonds, first in February where it issued today a 10-year, €500m bond, then a 15-year, €600m bond issued in September. In 2017 they have already successfully issued another 10-year, €500m bond showing the added-value with which the legal team add to the company’s bottom line.
