Previously heading legal departments at Compass Group, Draexlmaier Group and Erwin Hymer Group, Anja Kahle took over as general counsel of international manufacturing company MANN + HUMMEL in April 2016. Since doing so, she explains how she was given the opportunity to ‘reorganise the legal department into a global organisation in order to enable global service, control and transparency on risks’. Kahle has a wealth of experience in this regard, having been involved in similar projects at her prior companies. ‘Previously’ she explains, ‘I worked on the comprehensive reorganisation of a Group including mergers, spin-offs, change of legal form and divestments to optimise and simplify the Group’s structure and to serve shareholders’ targets in the area of tax, employment law, codetermination and Group control’. These, and many other successful projects completed over the course of her career helped her ‘to improve my legal knowledge and understanding of business needs as well as my skills regarding change projects’, all now key areas of expertise. Kahle’s immense experience and solid legal skills are well renowned throughout the organisation, with senior management being no exception; Kahle is able to rely on ‘a direct reporting line to the CEO and a very close alignment with the management group’.
