Dr Erik Staebe currently serves as the head of antitrust procedure and regulatory law within the central legal department of Deutsche Bahn, a position he has held since 2007. Recent highlights of Dr Staebe’s in-house career have been several abuse dominance cases before the EU commission including judicial review of dawn raid proceedings before the European Court of Justice. He has also worked on two treaty infringement proceedings by the EU Commission against Germany in which Deutsche Bahn worked for the Federal Government, as well as several proceedings before the civil and administrative courts in various jurisdictions for the Deutsche Bahn companies on regulatory and antitrust issues including private enforcement cases. Through this all-round involvement, Dr Staebe has learnt that he needs to be a ‘business-minded, quick and always one step ahead of your internal client to provide quick but solid, sound but creative, cutting edge legal advice’.
