As head of legal for the second largest bank in Germany by asset size, and the central institution for more than 1,000 co-operative banks and their 12,000 branch offices, Nützel touches a range of legal issues that support the bank’s cooperative financial network. In 2016 DZ bank merged with another large German cooperative bank, WGZ, establishing itself as the largest banking consolidation takeover since the takeover of Postbank by Deutsche Bank six years ago. Nützel contributed to this merger with great commitment, completing it in a challenging environment in a very short time, consequently giving the company momentum for the continuous expansion if the bank.
