Since October 2003, Stefan Heinisch has provided outstanding legal support to Hannover Re, the third largest reinsurance group in the world and has a network of subsidiaries, branches and representative offices on all five continents with a total workforce of almost 3,000 people. Heinisch, in his role of chief legal counsel and head of compliance of the company, has responsibility for ensuring all aspects of the company’s legal and compliance profile are mitigated. The rating agencies most relevant to the insurance industry – including Standard & Poor’s – have awarded Hannover Re very strong insurer financial strength ratings, thanks in no small part to the comprehensive and considered legal counsel it is bestowed by Heinisch and his in-house function. Heinisch previously practiced in law firms in both Germany and the US, with spells as an associate at both Menold & Aulinger in Frankfurt and Donahue & Partners in New York.
