Responsible for a number of significant transactions in the recent past, Volker Dürschlag is the general counsel for Rewe Group, a German diversified retail and tourism co-operative group based in Cologne. As part of a team that specialises in competition law, Dürschlag has been integral to the team’s recognition in winning a prestigious global counsel award 2016 in the competition category. The Rewe Group’s domestic lawyers automatically qualified for the final in New York by winning the 2016 European Counsel award. Leading a comparatively small team to renowned success in such a strong competitor field has undoubtedly been a high point for Dürschlag. He has managed strategically important operations such as the takeover of the Swiss travel supplier Kuoni and the significant deepening of Rewe’s cooperation with ARAL within a very tight time frame. Dürschlag uses his in-depth knowledge of antitrust law to navigate the company’s legal presence in 20 European countries whilst helping sustain its reputation as one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany and Europe.
