General counsel and member of the executive leadership team | Scout24
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We have been working on (i) material corporate and capital market law matters, including transforming the company from a regular German stock corporation into the form of a European stock corporation, on share buyback programmes —including public offer and trading of submission rights; on (ii) several M&A opportunities; and (iii) competition law cases including new legislation.
How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
Leading people in challenging times through Covid-9 and now, in the destabilised times we are in following Russia’s war on Ukraine, is substantially more complex than before. Because now, everybody has their burden to carry from private life: some have a heavier package, and some have a lighter one. On top of that, it is more important than ever to foster team spirit and enthusiasm at work while a lot of the team works substantial time remotely and not in the office. Legal teams typically benefit from highly qualified and motivated team members. But to transport company purpose in such challenging times is key to keep motivation up.
How much influence do you, as a general counsel, have on the diversity and inclusion policies of your organisation?
Being part of our executive leadership team – the extended management board – makes it easy for me to contribute to this and emphasise the importance of the matter. Having said that – diversity and an inclusive environment have run in our Scout24 DNA for a couple of years and are a top priority to our management team. Sustainable operations are inevitable, in my personal view. I am very glad that diversity and inclusion are part of our sustainability programme at Scout24.
