Dr. Joerg Kammerer is group general counsel and chief compliance officer of Securing Energy for Europe (until June 2022 GAZPROM Germania). Securing Energy for Europe is one of the biggest gas infrastructure, marketing and trading companies in Germany and The UK. In his role, Joerg leads the group’s global legal, regulatory and compliance organisation. Joerg joined Gazprom in 2008 from the chemical company BAYER where he served as legal counsel. After numerous roles in Gazprom’s legal department, Joerg’s responsibility has gradually broadened, taking on head of Gazprom Germania’s legal department in 2012 its German subsidiaries WINGAS and astora in 2014 and since 2019, group general counsel and chief compliance officer for the complete European and global LNG business activities. In addition to this, Joerg has also been the managing director of the German gas transportation joint venture company with Wintershall Dea, since 2022.

Joerg’s team has seen everything aside the daily gas marketing, trading and infrastructure business from complex cross-border M&A transactions, international arbitration in the range of several billion EUR to the complete restructuring of the energy business. The most high-profile recent issue is the ownership transfer from Gazprom to the German State, the intensive restructuring measures because of the dramatic energy market changes and the transformation of the company to secure the energy supply of Europe including the transformation from mineral fuels to green energy under the steer of the German government to speed up the energy transition. In this context, Joerg’s international team of around 40 associates assists in ensuring the operation and transformation of the company’s gas storage and transport assets, its energy marketing and trading business as also the international LNG supplies. This is supported by the biggest financing the German state ever provided to a single entity.
