Focus on… My company
VDM Metals is the world’s leading supplier of high-performance metallic materials. Many key technologies require materials from VDM Metals for large-scale implementation and safe control of corrosive and high-temperature processes and procedures. With just over 2,000 employees and sales of almost €1bn, VDM Metals is the world market leader for nickel alloys and highly alloyed special stainless steels. Within the Acerinox group of companies listed on the Madrid stock market, VDM Metals stands for high performance alloys.
The company’s ambition is matched by the rather broad responsibilities of the legal department. Here, a small team covers a wide range of topics. Led by general counsel Matthias Möhle, the legal, compliance, risk management and insurance department advises on important raw material and energy procurement contracts, as well as on asset purchases or estate transactions. The legal repertoire extends into the area of research and development agreements, for example on issues of competition, trademark or patent law. In addition, sales agreements play a decisive role, especially since a large part of the sales of VDM Metals are conducted as project business. Recurring topics for Mr. Möhle’s team further include corporate law and corporate finance issues.
Lastly, compliance is key at VDM Metals. The company stands for zero tolerance when it comes to antitrust law and corruption. But the VDM Metals legal and compliance team also keeps an eye on other issues such as money laundering, export control or data protection and supports the ESG initiatives. And should the worst come to the worst, Mr. Möhle and his team will accompany the legal dispute and oversee the anonymous whistleblower hotline as well as the insurance matters.
