How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

Key is to focus on the decisive elements of the respective matters, balance workload within the team and make use of imperfections (or even failures) to become better and grow – as an organisation and as a team. Close cooperation with business owners and clear communication about priorities is key especially in such situations. In general, automatisation and simplification as well as regularly questioning established structures and processes is fundamental to drive forward improvement.

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?

Continuous adopting to increasing regulation of the business and right level of automatisation and enabling customers is one main field of work for the team. In addition to that we advised on several M&A-transactions that help to anorganically grow the business in data assets.

How have you integrated technology into your legal processes, and what impact has this had on efficiency and compliance?

Integrating more IT in the legal processes is a key topic for us. We tested a tool for monitoring legal KPI and are about to automatise this. Moreover, we improved tools for cross company collaboration on legal matters to improve efficiency. Next step is to make more use of AI for compliance spot checks.

What do you see as the major legal challenges for businesses in Germany over the next five years, and how are you preparing to address them?

Balancing between increasing regulations and automatisation for such increased regulation is the main legal challenge during the next years. Very happy to see much more advanced products in the market to support legal teams there. We are preparing through continuous development there.
