Martin Regnath joined Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes in February 2020 as general counsel and authorized signatory. In this position, he is responsible for the nationwide tender procedure and procurement of construction and engineering services with an annual volume of approximately €6 billion, as well as nationwide contract management. Some of the projects for which he is responsible are mentioned here, e.g. Crisis management of major construction projects, e.g. Salzbachtal bridge or Rahmede viaduct, conception and piloting of a partnership-based contract model and conception and successful piloting of innovative tendering procedures, e.g. open house.

As a competent and very well networked person in the branch, he is the contact person for the construction industry and associations at Executive Board/Managing director level. This is also highlighted by his various memberships in important associations. Martin Regnath is member of the board of directors of the German registered association for construction law, chairman of the advisory board of the German association for extrajudicial dispute resolution and board member of the German institute of corporate counsel.

He previously worked for a project management company for around nine years as an authorized signatory and Head of Legal Affairs, where he was responsible for legal affairs, land acquisition/real estate and tendering/purchasing as general counsel. In his role, he was responsible for the strategic development of the company and was a member of the extended management board as well as deputy to the commercial managing director.

Prior to this, he worked as a consultant on major property and construction projects, both strategically and conceptually, and thus acquired in-depth knowledge of the construction sector. Further consulting activities in project developments of alternative energies complete his experience. He has also been involved in litigation and arbitration proceedings as an arbitrator. Mr Regnath was able to gather knowledge in the administrative sector during his time as a government councillor as head of department at the road construction department Kempten and public relations officer for Bavaria’s representation to the federal government.

The basis of his expertise, many years of professional experience and career was his work as a lawyer in various areas of law (real estate law, commercial and corporate law, tax law, business law).
