In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently (these can be legal, political, economy or business-based)?

In my candid opinion, I believe the major trend in Nigeria spans across several domains (legal, political, and economic) which comprises of the Nigerian economic reforms and challenges – inflation remains a constant concern caused by high energy prices and food insecurity. There is also the aspect of the federal government fixating on fiscal policies and reforms including the removal of petrol subsidy to boost non-oil revenue, however there are constant implementation challenges! Foreign Direct Investment is also being affected due to the currency challenges we are facing in Nigeria; foreign companies are experiencing delays in capital repatriation and the fluctuating exchange rates continues to dampen investors’ confidence and portfolio investment. The Naira is expected to face continuous depreciation due to foreign exchange demand and supply imbalance. In a bid to reduce the impact of the trending inflation in the country, the Federal government has decided to implement an increase on the minimum wage. On the legal and regulatory landscape, regulatory frameworks are increasingly emphasising the need for sustainability & environmental governance and efforts are ongoing to broaden the tax base and increase compliance. Overall, the trend shows Nigeria’s effort to balance economic reforms presenting opportunities and risks for businesses.

Are there any causes, business or otherwise, you are passionate about?

Outside of my work in law, I am very passionate about art & creative writing, as these outlets offer profound ways to connect, inspire, and drive change. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling, whether through visual mediums or the written word, to evoke empathy and bring attention to overlooked issues and I am always happy to be part of a project where storytelling is involved. Another cause which I see myself gravitating towards, is sustainable development; particularly initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for underprivileged communities. Empowering people through vocational training, sustainable practices, and entrepreneurial support can break cycles of poverty while fostering innovation. Combining creativity with sustainability, I look forward to support projects that nurture talent and generate opportunities in communities that need them most. I’m always excited to collaborate on ideas that merge these passions to create lasting impact.
