Victoria Oppong-Asamoah is a highly accomplished legal professional with extensive experience advising multinational corporations on complex legal and regulatory matters, particularly within the dynamic e-commerce landscape of West Africa. As Head of Legal for West Africa at Jumia Group, a leading pan-African e-commerce platform, she is based in Accra, Ghana, where her leadership and expertise are instrumental in navigating the legal complexities of this rapidly evolving market. She oversees the legal function across multiple countries, including Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Senegal, providing strategic counsel to executive management on a wide range of technical, commercial, and legal issues. Her responsibilities include advising on contracts and transactions critical to the Jumia Marketplace and Vendor Center, ensuring regulatory and compliance adherence, and managing corporate governance requirements. A certified Data Protection Supervisor by the Data Protection Commission of Ghana, she plays a key role in ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, particularly crucial for a listed entity. Prior to joining Jumia, she served as Senior Legal Counsel at Vodafone Ghana (now Telecel Ghana) for nearly seven years, where she was the primary legal contact for various internal functions, including Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Human Resources, and the company’s FinTech (mobile money) business. Her expertise was further enhanced by a short-term assignment with Vodafone Global Enterprise in the United Kingdom, focusing on Projects and Solutions. Her legal foundation was built through roles at top law firms in Ghana, including NDowuona & Company, where she gained significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, company secretarial work, land registration, and commercial transactions; Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa, and Ankomah, where she completed her pupilage with exposure to mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and trademark registrations; and AB & David, where she began her legal career as an intern.
