What are the most significant cases or transactions you and your team have been involved in?

Over the last years apart from the challenges we all faced due to the pandemic, as a team we were involved in supporting business clients in deal negotiations and the Microsoft Data Center investment in Greece. Additionally, another lighthouse project was the “Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds” project in which along with my colleague, Tilemachos Moraitis, we were involved in from start to finish last November. This project was developed in close collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports; it digitally recreates the Ancient Olympia site through the development of i) an AR mobile app, b) a 3D interactive website; and c) a mixed reality experience (HoloLens) with the latter now being hosted in Athens Olympic Museum where visitors of Ancient Olympia are prompted to use the mobile application to experience how the monuments stood in all their glory more than 2,000 years ago. People around the world have now had the chance the front of the monuments of Ancient Olympia using the 3D interactive website and AR mobile app.

In what ways do you see the in-house legal role evolving in your region over the next few years?

I think that the role of in-house counsel is increasingly a strategic business partner getting involved in strategic decisions by offering not only legal advice but also through contributing on how to ameliorate business operations and organisation. We play an important role in a company’s growth. Such evolution also requires in-house counsel to be more agile, innovative and have a growth mindset.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

Over the last two years, we have embraced being digitally savvy, with regards to how we interact and perform our in-house legal role. So, it seems to me that having technological acumen will be an integral skill for the in-house legal teams to leverage and empower themselves to work at their optimum.
