What are the most significant cases or transactions you and your team have been involved in?
The most significant cases or transactions my team and I have been involved in recently include leading the negotiations in 5G deals with some of the major carrier operators in the cluster.
In what ways do you see the in-house legal role evolving in your region over the next few years?
General counsel are increasingly strengthening their presence in policy debates, both with the bar and legal institutions. The in-house legal role has evolved to assume a heightened public profile that has contributed to the general counsel being considered as a member of the company’s senior leadership team.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
It depends on the industry. Huawei, for example, is a leading technology company and its legal department has access to the latest and most innovative technologies making communication and collaboration across jurisdictions consistent; furthermore, its contract lifecycle management systems are impeccable.
