Which recent political, economic, or regulatory changes have impacted the company and the team the most?

The challenging times we have been confronting have largely impacted legal entities. In Greece, the legislative bodies have issued more than 1,500 legal acts to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, and to regulate the impact of restrictions on individuals, transactions, and businesses. Our legal team has had to keep up with announcements from the government daily – to examine new legislation, distribute relevant information to the respective functions of the company and to respond to any queries. The pandemic has also imposed new working conditions, which required the development of a new framework within the business. Our legal team supported the management in the creation of a hybrid working model which has allowed employees to combine remote work with office work.

Even in the best-case scenario, Covid is likely to have far-reaching ramifications. How are you safeguarding the long-term health of the business?

We have not put ourselves down during the pandemic, instead we took advantage of opportunities and opened three new branches – in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Patras. We have expanded our business while offering working opportunities to young people and contributing to the enhancement of the local economy. Even during Covid times, our companies has believed that its human capital is what makes it thrive, therefore it has invested in the lifelong education of its human resources and promoted the bonding of teams. Our qualified staff along with the modern technology shows how we put dedication when we set goals, to achieve the long-term health of our company.

What do you think are the biggest risks facing your industry now and how are you preparing your company and team to face these risks?

One of the biggest risks facing our industry is the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine. It has triggered severe consequences and impacted international business relations. The EU, UK and the US have imposed a heavy package of economic sanctions to Russian and Belarusian individuals and entities, restricting and prohibiting certain activities. In this specific context, we stick with the decisions made by the competent bodies and investigate ways to adapt to the new circumstances.
