Since a much publicised cessation of operations in 2015, ending a period of operation which had gone on for almost 70 years, the Cyprus Airways brand has taken on new owners, with Cyprus-based Charlie Airlines winning a tender competition in 2016 to use the brand name for a decade.
Since then, getting the Cyprus Airways name back into the air has involved a series of challenges which recently culminated in success; in March 2018 the company announced it would finally be restarting flights by the end of the month. Head of legal Christina Hadjidemetriou has been a major factor in this success, having originally joined the company in March 2017.
With extensive experience in the fields of EU and international law and airline regulations, she is an ideal fit at the company. Prior to her current role, Hadjidemetriou was previously a senior legal advisor in the area of corporate law at Nicosia-based legal firm Elena Hajiroussou.
