General counsel - Greece and Cyprus | Unilever
General counsel for East Europe | Unilever
Tri-lingual legal professional Christina Vasilopoulou moved to Unilever in May 2017. As general counsel for both Greece and Cyprus she covers a wide remit and, with a long standing career, is able to draw on past experiences to head the legal function across both jurisdictions.
The multinational consumer products company announced plans to sell its olive oil brands in Greece in late 2017 and Vasilopoulou’s strong skillset in M&A transactions make her perfectly placed to assist on the potential sale. In her previous role as head of the Greek legal department at Mondelēz, one of the world’s largest snacks companies, she was heavily involved in overseeing its local compliance function and a corporate restructure whilst also advising on all relevant legal affairs over a five-year period. Prior to Mondelēz, Vasilopoulou spent three years at Heracles General Cement Corporation, her first in-house role.
Vasilopoulou also has a strong background in private practice, serving law firms Souriadakis Frangakis Skaltsas Pantelakis between 2005 and 2009 and Karatzas & Partners between 2003 and 2005. In addition to her Bachelor’s degree in law from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Vasilopoulou holds LLM degrees in European and comparative law from Oxford University and civil law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
