A Swedish national, Martin Thorvaldsson has enjoyed an in-house legal career of over two decades in his home nation as well as Mediterranean jurisdictions namely Malta, Gibraltar and most recently Cyprus. Since April 2017, he has been based in Limassol, serving as general counsel for Exness, a fast-developing Cypriot provider of services for trading on financial markets.

In the role he holds responsibility for the legal matters of the group and manages the legal aspects of Exness’ global expansion plans. Within months of his arrival at the firm, Thorvaldsson successfully assisted on the company’s sponsorship deal with world-renowned football club Real Madrid, including a partnership agreement with global football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Prior to moving to Cyprus, Thorvaldsson ran his own legal consultancy in Malta for the online gaming and gambling industry. Before that, he was he was the general counsel and member of the management team at Betsson Group, a Swedish online gambling company, between 2010 and 2016.

His other notable senior in-house legal roles include being head of legal and general counsel at GTECH G2 in Gibraltar between and 2008 and 2010 and being general counsel for the Boss Media AB group of companies for three years prior to his tenure at GTECH G2. He graduated from Lund University in Sweden in 1997, specialising in IT and IP law.
