Bio

Despoina Doxaki is a professional with 30 years of experience in international financing transactions. She has extensive expertise in all types of fundraising and lending, and in recent years has also been involved in EU and institutional policy-making matters. Her sectoral experience spans financial services in banking, infrastructure, utilities, and energy. She has worked in Athens, London, New York, and Brussels, and is well-accustomed to multicultural working environments.

In 2018, she relocated from London to Athens to take up the position of Chief Legal Counsel with the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund, where she serves as a member of the Executive Committee and a technical expert on the Investment Management Committee.

Throughout her career, Despoina has worked in London and New York as a partner with Norton Rose Fulbright (Chadbourne), Shearman & Sterling, and Milbank. In Brussels, she worked with McDermott & Ellis (Stanbrook & Hooper), the EU Commission, and in Athens with Alpha Bank AE, KPMG, Ellactor (CIS), and KG Law Firm. She also holds positions as an independent non-executive member of the board of directors of public power corporation and as a non-executive member of the board of directors of Attica Bank.

In addition to her professional roles, she was a visiting fellow professor at the University of Piraeus in the Banking and Finance Faculty (financial instruments) between 2014 and 2016. She holds a BA and an MSc in Law, as well as certificates in Corporate Governance and Corporate Governance for Board Members in Banks from INSEAD and the Florence School of Banking and Finance.

Despoina believes that business goals are achieved through a clear understanding and accurate description of facts, combined with the flexibility to allow for options.
