Prof. Dr. George Lekkas is the Head of legal division, counsel to the board at Eurobank, where he leads a team of twelve lawyers. With expertise spanning capital markets, investment banking, wealth management, strategic legal planning, and regulatory compliance, he has been with Eurobank since 2000, progressing through various leadership roles.

In his current position since 2013, Dr. Lekkas manages the legal division responsible for investment banking, capital markets, and international activities, while also serving as legal advisor to the board of directors. His responsibilities include providing legal guidance to senior executives, negotiating high-stakes legal agreements, and overseeing the legal aspects of Eurobank’s business transactions. He also plays a crucial role in managing legal risk and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations across Eurobank’s subsidiaries in Cyprus, Luxembourg, and the wider Southeastern European region.

Before joining Eurobank, Dr. Lekkas held positions at Banque Nationale de Grèce in Paris and Paribas in Athens, where he gained extensive experience in corporate loans, syndicated facilities, and derivatives.

In addition to his legal career, Dr. Lekkas has been a Professor at the University of Athens Law School since 2003, specialising in civil law, banking law, and securities regulation. He has authored numerous publications on financial law and is a frequent speaker at international legal conferences. Dr. Lekkas holds a PhD and LL.M. from the University of Paris V and a BA in Law from the University of Athens. He is fluent in English, French, and German.
