Spotlight on: Cases and transaction for the 2023/2024 period

As legal director at Danaos Shipping, I have provided comprehensive legal counsel across a range of significant projects and transactions for this past year. This includes advising on shipbuilding contracts for the construction of 16 new container vessels, with a total aggregate capacity of 129,819 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit). I have overseen the successful delivery and registration of 3 out of the 16 newbuild vessels, with an additional 3 expected by the end of 2024. Further deliveries are scheduled for 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028, with 2 vessels in 2025, 3 in 2026, 7 in 2027, and the final vessel in 2028.

Additionally, I led the legal process for the acquisition of 10 bulk carrier vessels through a memorandum of agreement. All 10 vessels have been delivered and are currently under the management of Danaos Shipping Company.

Lastly, I advised on the structuring and securing of a US$450mn post-delivery senior secured loan facility. This facility is being used to finance 8 newbuild vessels under construction at the Daehan, Dalian, and Qingdao shipyards, with financing provided by a syndicate of four major shipping banks.
