Central Bank of Cyprus
Established in 1963, the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC)’s is today mainly responsible for implementing the European Central Bank’s monetary policy decisions, supervising Cypriot banks, safeguarding the stability of the financial system, holding and managing official international reserves, overseeing the smooth operation of payment and settlement systems and acting as banker for the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.
With such an important responsibility, CBC has been able to recruit some of the island’s best lawyers to its ranks, all of whom have contributed to the smooth running of the organisation in line with all applicable laws and regulations.
Amongst the latest developments which involved the contribution of legal team members, CBC imposed an administrative fine of €100,000 on Société Générale Bank – Cyprus in April 2019.
