Deloitte Greece
Usually comprising five individuals – four lawyers, including general counsel, Emmanouil Asikis, and a legal intern – the Deloitte Greece in-house legal team has been extremely busy over the past few years in the face of a major expansion of workload due to the increasing activity in the region. The inclusion of the Greek operation into the Deloitte Central Mediterranean network is among the most important projects the team has been involved in on behalf of the company. Further internal improvements aimed at expanding the capabilities of the team have been made, allowing them to be able to comply with maximised requirements and specialised matters. ‘We have gathered a group of talented people and created a team in which they can merge their talents to meet the challenge of a multi-faceted and complicated regulatory environment’, says Asikis. ‘This has resulted in a remarkable amount of energy and creativity being unleashed. The goal has been to increase team working spirit, but also make each person responsible for their own actions, and make them understand that they should bring their personality and expertise to their work. Consequently, the team has deep knowledge in a great number of sectors and is motivated to contribute to each other and to the company with their knowledge’. Clearly, Asikis as team lead is extremely pleased with the team’s progression, and commends its performance over recent months: ‘Knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication to the firm and to the team have resulted in all deadlines being met. When considering that all cases including litigation, legal opinion, compliance matters and GDPR adoption have been handled internally, this is a fantastic achievement.’
