Eurobank Cyprus
To achieve a competitive advantage in the fast-growing banking and financial services sector, Eurobank Cyprus has made great efforts to recruit a legal team consisting of highly specialised professionals. The closely integrated team consists of three legal advisors led by a highly experienced team manager, Andreas Petasis, who has extensive knowledge of the Cyprus banking system and the surrounding legal framework as well as industry and business insight; Maria Kaimi, a well-trained legal advisor with knowledge of the lending and payment services legal framework and their day-to-day challenges; and Constantia Zacharia, a professional with cumulative experience in complex corporate structures and the banking sector’s underlying products and services. The legal team is actively involved in a number of transactions in recent months, notably syndicated loans in cooperation with other financial institutions for the lending of Cyprus-based companies. The team possesses significant experience and is fully equipped to handle complex and out-of-court restructurings to fit client expectations whist accommodating the business side of the process. In addition to everyday legal advice provided to the various departments of the bank, the team provides support and advice in relation to the provisions of global master repurchase agreements and has actively participated in various discussions surrounding the implementation of such related provisions. Petasis emphasises the legal team’s ethos, which is bestowed to it by the company, as being based on ‘integrity, professionalism and discretion in the handling of every case’.
