OTE Group is the largest telecommunications provider in the Greek market, offering a full range of telecommunications services. These include fixed-line and mobile telephony, broadband services, to pay television and integrated ICT solutions and operates through COSMOTE, its unified commercial brand for all the products and services of the Group. Led by general counsel and chief legal and regulatory officer Eirini Nikolaidi, OTE’s legal team, deals with a wide range of services located across five main units each led by a respective director. Anthi Sagianni is responsible for corporate operations and commercial network, while Eirini Souli leads the TV legal issues and legal institutional frameworks team, whilst Lila Margariti is responsible for procurement, contracts and personal data. Vickie Koutsovoulou leads financial, B2B projects and international activities and Apostolos Tzotzos heads the labour issues and civil and criminal cases team. The team’s work over recent months has been significant. Worth citing is the divestiture of Telekom Albania and the capital restructuring of Romanian subsidiaries, as well as legal support for the Broadband Network Development initiative in White Rural Areas. The team has also overseen the successful growth of the company’s pay-TV service provider COSMOTE TV. Major transactional work for COSMOTE TV has included the purchase of the exclusive television rights for the UEFA Europa League, Champions League, Premier League, NBA, La Liga and Bundesliga and its own productions for the COSMOTE TV History channel. To achieve these and other feats, the team provides integrated services across OTE Group, which is achieved by creating a single integrated legal department, for all Group companies, in order to enhance efficiency and development of regulatory and legal expertise and improve the service to OTE Group clients. As the general counsel, Nikolaidi described the mission statement of the team is as follows: ‘The legal team is committed to build trust and to provide high quality and timely services to all their customers. This is achieved by being proactive problem solvers and business enablers, whilst maintaining professional integrity and ethics’.
