Public Power Corporation
Public Power Corporation (PPC) is the biggest power producer and electricity supply company in Greece with approximately 7.4 million customers. PPC currently holds assets in lignite mines, power generation, transmission and distribution. Its current power portfolio consists of conventional thermal and hydroelectric power plants, as well as RES units, accounting for approximately 68% of the total installed capacity in the country. It is controlled by the Greek government, which owns a majority of the issued shares.
The company’s highly skilled legal department is headed by general counsel Argiris Economou who joined the company in 2005. With his guidance the legal team has dealt with a range of complex legal matters including the spin-off of the transmission and distribution segments, where two wholly-owned subsidiaries of PPC were created, namely IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator) and HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator).
