Legal officer Petros Papaevagorou describes how the Tototheo Maritime legal function is heavily influenced by its governance professionals, highlighting its business-focused approach: ‘The current legal function of the organisation is supervised by the chief governance officer Natalia Bury Loyal, who has an extensive experience and expertise related to business administration and internal corporate governance’. He references the legal department’s overall goal in a similarly commercially-focused way, as ‘two-fold, in terms of safeguarding the company’s interests and improving its business procedures and working practices’. Papaevagorou considers 2018 as a ‘flagship year for innovation’ within the team. ‘Our team has successfully managed to enter into new projects, develop new products, work on new technologies and most importantly complete transactions that would enhance our business and maximise our impact portfolio in the maritime sector’, he says. ‘Tototheo has been a premier solutions provider for the maritime industry for decades now, and that continues with success. We formed new partnerships with well-established stakeholders in the Cypriot maritime sector and with the University of Technology in Limassol with the aim to establish Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean region as the showcase of sea traffic management for the world’. It is also made clear that the team is a progressive environment for its members to work in. ‘There is no doubt that diversity, inclusion and respect are firmly anchored in the department, and we strongly believe that without those ingredients it would be hard for us to cooperate, exchange ideas and support each other for the best benefit of our organisation and its people.
