Maria has over 15 years of experience in sustainability programmes, environmental management, and launching initiatives in the tourism sector and hospitality industry. In 2012, she joined Hoteles City as a coordinator of processes and environmental management, successfully positioning Hoteles City as the first hotel chain worldwide to achieve several environmental certification programmes and national distinctions such as Sustainable Hydro Hotel (HELVEX) and Distinctive S (SECTUR), as well as international distinctions like LEED (USGBC) and EDGE (World Bank).
In 2017, Maria was promoted to corporate sustainability manager, where she continued to achieve successes and led the activation of over 40 initiatives for the chain, including the implementation of new programmes for the ‘Impacto City’ platform.
Maria is a leader in incorporating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards and is currently an active member of Hoteles City’s diversity and inclusion committee. Under her leadership, the committee has launched more than 10 initiatives, including the integration of staff with hearing disabilities into functional areas of Hoteles City.
She holds a degree in tourism from the Higher School of Tourism and has certifications in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9000) and Corporate Social Responsibility.
