Can you discuss your or your company’s efforts relating to renewability, sustainability, or other environmentally-friendly activities?

In Mexico, Uber is at the forefront of its industry in terms of sustainable mobility and in terms of contributing to a greener world.

Our strategy is based on one key pillar: Uber Planet. Uber Planet has been available in Mexico since 2021, and its sole purpose is to contribute to the environment. This is done in two ways. Firstly, through the sponsorship of local green initiatives around the country. In the past few years, Uber has funded mangrove reforestation in Baja California Sur, forest conservation in Estado de México and Querétaro, and the reintroduction of an endangered species to the ecosystem, the axolotl. We are currently funding other projects that will create a positive impact in local communities.

Secondly, Uber also contributes to the development of a greener mobility by funding the buying and leasing of hybrid and electric vehicles. This is also done through the Uber Planet initiative, by which seed money is allocated to rideshare drivers so they can lease (and then own) or directly purchase eco-friendly vehicles. This initiative began as a pilot in 2022 and had less than 50 vehicles; by the end of 2025 we expect more than 4,000 on the streets of Mexico.

Through Uber Planet, Uber shows that green mobility is not only desirable, but achievable.
