Eddie Chan is the Legal Director at Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), a statutory body with a core function to promote Hong Kong globally as a leading international city in Asia and a world-class tourist destination.
At HKTB, Eddie leads the Legal Department to provide strategic legal advice across the Head Office and Worldwide / Representative Offices. Eddie’s responsibilities extend to cover a broad range of disciplines, such as corporate governance and administration, internal policies and procedures, regulatory compliance and Board affairs. Eddie also serves as the Data Protection Officer to provide guidance on internal control and compliance with personal data privacy laws.
In 2023/2024, Eddie led the Legal Department and collaborated with HKTB teams on a series of high-profile and impactful global and local initiatives, aiming to demonstrate Hong Kong’s full resumption to normalcy, reconnect with visitors worldwide, and drive tourism recovery in Hong Kong.
Before joining HKTB, Eddie worked as a Senior Legal Counsel at the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), with extensive experience in advising on anti-discrimination matters and developing Statutory Code of Practices. Eddie also participated in EOC’s Discrimination Law Review to modernise all the existing anti-discrimination ordinances
Eddie graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nottingham and received his Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong.
