Jonty is General Counsel, Strategy Director, and Company Secretary at Bupa Hong Kong. In his current role, he leads the provision of legal advice, strategic development, and company secretariat support for Bupa Hong Kong. He is passionate about enabling better health outcomes for Bupa’s customers and is keen to explore how digital transformation and data-driven decisions can support this goal. Recently, he has been partnering with the business to deliver on its core strategy of becoming the world’s most customer-centric healthcare company and providing Connected Care (insurance and health provision) to the company’s Hong Kong customers. Some of his career highlights include leading on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters involved in cross-border acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, debt issuances, and other business developments for Bupa’s International Markets team (Bupa’s global emerging markets team).

Prior to his role at Bupa Hong Kong, he was an M&A lawyer in private practice in New Zealand (Simpson Grierson), Australia (Minter Ellison), and the United Kingdom (White & Case). He joined Bupa as an in-house counsel in London in 2013 before relocating to Hong Kong to establish its first legal team in 2018.
